Monumental in scale yet executed with the precision of fine sculpture, it showcases a remarkable Mappa Burl centerpiece mounted on a live edge Black Walnut slab. One of our most meaningful recent projects came from a client who wanted to preserve a piece of their family history: a section of a piano passed down for generations. Their vision was to transform it into a custom coffee table with a glass top that would showcase the piano&rsquo;s keys and inner mechanics.
We worked closely with them to design a piece that honors the instrument&rsquo;s story while fitting seamlessly into their home. Built from rich hardwood with sleek inset glass, the table is more than furniture&mdash;it&rsquo;s a tribute.

On the left, you&rsquo;ll see a&nbsp;live edge book matched black walnut dining table before refinishing. The client wanted a lighter, more natural look that showcased the raw beauty of walnut, so we refinished it with Rubio Monocoat &ldquo;Natural&rdquo; and sealed it with a gold ceramic top coat for long-lasting protection.
We also had the chance to restore a maple burl coffee table top from the 1990s that had seen years of use. By refinishing it with our trusted Rubio Monocoat 2C PURE, the piece regained its depth, warmth, and a fresh sense of life.
These projects show how a professional refinish can completely transform a table&mdash;bringing out the best in the wood while extending its life for years to come.

We are often asked about the level of care required when commissioning a rare hardwood table. We offer a Graphene Ceramic Coating similar to what you would apply to a luxury vehicle. This coating comes in a Gold and Diamond level, and is scientifically formulated to penetrate microscopic pours and provide a bonded layer of protection against staining, UV damage, and creates a hydrophobic finish causing liquids to bead on the surface. This product is considered industry standard in wood finishes.
This finish is easily re-applied on site, and suggested every 3 to 5 years. You will have peace of mind knowing your table is protected and can be enjoyed worry-free.
